There are some serious perks of being a wedding planner. Cake is one of them. Champagne is another. Lounging in London’s fabulous hotels is a third. I happen to love all three of these things (and let’s be honest, who wouldn’t?).
A few weeks ago one of the UK’s premier cake designers, GC Couture, hosted an event full of these luxuries and I was all-too-happy to put a party dress on, pluck one of those champagne glasses from a silver platter, and get ready to mix and mingle!
The evening, entitled “Seasons of Sugar” was put on to showcase GC Couture’s 2016 cake collection. The collection features 10 different cakes, each of which are perfect for weddings in a different season. Marie Sinclair, GC Couture’s Director explained, “Height is a big feature of the Seasons of Sugar Collection, simply because it creates more impact and ‘wow’ factor. We have created a signature look of sugar flowers cascading in a waterfall effect.” Each of the cakes are available in 50 flavours. Yes, you heard that right, FIFTY FLAVOURS. I’ve personally tasted several of them, and they are delicious. I work with a lot of American clients and GC Couture is one of my favourites for them because some of the flavours taste very similar to American sponge wedding cakes.
The event itself was beautifully designed and featured a few of the best trends in weddings right now. One of which is incorporating 5 senses into all parts of the day. From custom sound tracks to bespoke scents, no detail is too small to elevate your guests’ experience. At the Seasons of Sugar Event, we were treated to invitations with a customised event scent that carried throughout the entire evening and light “music” of natural sounds from birds chirping to wind blowing to correspond to the seasons.
And then here is me with a wedding planner friend, Jennifer of Raspberry Bespoke getting our party on!
